Well, here they are. Images from my first wedding as the primary shooter. WOW! Being a wedding photographer is no joke! Everyone knows all about the whole "you only get one shot to capture the moment" but what they don't realize is the amount of time and the actual physically hard work it takes to pull off shooting a wedding. I was shooting images less than 5 minutes after I walked inside the church, and didn't stop until about 8 hours later. I was sweating just about the entire time. I'm very lucky I didn't "pit out" the shirt I was wearing. It was brutal!! But I'm glad Reanna talked me into doing it. It was a great experience and I hope I got some shots they like. Thank you Nate and Reanna for letting me "practice" on your big day. I had a great time!

Baby Lincoln

Florida '10

Well the annual trip to Florida has come and gone. This trip was just a liiiiiiitle bit different than the last 20 or so. I figured I would spice it up a bit by getting married on the beach! Yes for those of you who haven't heard I tied the ol knot. I thought I would share a few of my favorite pics from the week. There obviously aren't any from the actual wedding (I was a little busy at the time), but I got some nice clicks on the days leading up to and after the big day. Enjoy!!

It was a LOT harder and took a LOT longer than I ever thought it would to get that thing up and running. But I'm happy with the final results. The B-Shift

Here are some portraits I did of some guys at the firehouse. We have a section on our wall in or Watchroom where we display a portrait of everyone who is at the 11s. Well it hasn't been updated in awhile (I've been here 2 and a half years and my picture still isn't up). So the guys on the B-Shift asked me if I could do some shots for them for the wall. I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. I had a pretty hectic October that carried over into November. But it was a good kind of hectic. Lots of pictures and a couple vacations. Got to shoot my favorite model the other day. She's just such a natural. Really knows how to work the camera and balance out the light. An all around pleasure to work with. Except when you have to change her diaper. Then it gets a little rough:) Did I mention she's not quite 2 yet?? Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!!

Trip to the Indianapolis Zoo

So went to the zoo the other day....after hours! Which was nice because apparently the animals are much more active after they think everyone has gone home. It's kinda like Madagascar! But I got some pretty good pics because of it. Thanks guys! Enjoy!

Summer Camp

I've been going to summer camp since I was a wee little one. Either as a camper, a dishwasher, a counselor, or just a general tourist. It's so nice to get away to where the bugs don't seem to be so pesky. The air seems so much cleaner. And it is SO SO much quieter. Well, most of the time it's quieter. I recently took a trip back down to Brown County to visit CYO Camp Rancho Framasa. A place I spent many many summers. Here are some shots I got. The game they are playing is called the Canada Game. It's basically non stop running and a total blast to play. Enjoy!

Below are some of my favorite shots of baby Macey. She is the first baby I've gotten to capture who eyes were actually open for the majority of the shoot!! She was definitely a mover and a shaker but at the same time was very alert to what I was doing and hardly ever took her eyes off of me. Maybe she was smitten:) Enjoy!

New Pal Golf Sectionals

Headed out to the Greenfield Country Club this afternoon for the IHSAA Boys Golf Sectional to get some shots of Nick Roembke. Nick is a freshman on the New Palestine Varsity Golf Team. That's quite the accomplishment for those of you that don't know the game of golf. Nick got off to a rough start, but battled back to shoot an 88. All you have to do is ask him and he'll tell ya it wasn't his best day. But the New Pal boys put together a team score of 320 to take second place and advance to the Regionals on Thursday. Nice job! Here's some of my favorites from today.

Cancun 09

So I got to go to Cancun, Mexico a few weeks ago. First time for me. Been on my list of places I wanted to see before I died. Needless to say, was really looking forward to the trip. Then, out of the blue, BAM....swine flu. WTH?!?! Well, after much consideration and looking into possible alternate destinations, we decided to suck it up and give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?? So myself, my lovely girlfriend Amber, my brother and his lovely wife Sarah boarded our flights to Mexico.

It was AWESOME! There was no one there!! Which made for a very relaxing trip. Just what I needed. And of course I found some time to squeeze in picture taking time. Here are just a few with these super hot models I found walking down the beach. Enjoy.

Eston and Audrey

WOW! So apparently it's been awhile since I've blogged. Well I've actually had some work coming in so now I have some stuff to post up. Some from clients, some from my worldly travels. These are from my shoot with Eston and Audrey. These two were a blast to shoot. Eston was SOOO shy when he first arrived at the park. But as soon as I pointed the camera at him, it was as if his eyes lit up! He loved having his picture taken (which makes my job SOOOOOO much easier)! I was told if was going to be tough to get pictures of Audrey, as she is always on the move. Well it turned out she liked having her picture taken too! And was very cooperative. These two made it so easy on me. Thank you so much for letting me shoot them. It was a true pleasure for me. Enjoy.

Stacy's Shoot

These shots are from the other day. Stacy was nice/patient enough to let me come over and take some shots of her and her new Harley. It went great and, like I said she was very patient, allowing me to move my lights and reposition both her and the bike. I'm really pleased with the way these came out. Station 24

Got some new pictures today. I got these from out in front of Station 24 on the cities East side as they were preparing for a retired fire fighter's funeral procession drive by. These "drive by's" are to show respect for the fallen colleague for his many years of service at station 24.

At The Fire House

So I'm at the fire house today and I thought I would mess around with some more lighting stuff. Keeping in mind I only have a limited amount of equipment, they may look a lot like the others. But like I've said in the past, I'm still learning and I gotta practice on something. So I thought I would snap a couple shots of my helmet. I think it's got a lot of character and has a TON of stories under it's bell. Well take a look and tell me what ya think. I had fun working on these and trying different effects on each one. They all seemed to work out pretty well in my opinion.

Ok, so I've tried something new this week. I've been working on my "off camera lighting." I know...sounds REALLY cool. Ok, maybe not. But to me, it is. The bad part is...until I get it figured out the pictures are really gonna be boring. But, like I tell Carter, you gotta practice if you want to be any good. So while he sat practicing writing his name. I took pictures of M&Ms and flashlights and a few of him. Then I realized me taking pictures of a 5 year old practicing writing his letters can be a bit distracting for said 5 year old. So just to show you I am still snapping away, here are a couple of completely un retouched photos.

The first photo is a flashlight with a hard off camera flash. No diffusion. Pretty unflattering. Please note the photo below the text. BOO YAH!! Thanks Kiera.

The second photo (note it is in the center where I wanted the last one, but oh well. Still learnin!!) is the same flashlight but this time with a diffused flash, shot through a piece of writing tablet paper (guess where I got that from), and bounced off another piece of white paper. Looks much better. Still needs work. But not bad for a 1st try. The object being black and reflective doesn't help a rookie like myself either.

The third photo (WHY MY IS MY FONT BLUE???) is Carter working away on his letters. This flash was diffused and bounced off the ceiling. Not bad for a candid shot. It's a little dark, but I didn't exactly have time to adjust my flash. Still practicing.

New Lens Is Here!!

Well the new lens is here. The Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L is awesome! I haven't had a lot of time to take very many shots with it, but I'm sure I'll be using it plenty. Because the weather has been so cold, and not to mention the 12 inches of snow we got yesterday, I haven't been able to go outside and shoot as much as I'd like. But the other side of that coin is that I can stay inside and work on some lighting techniques. Kinda hard when you only have one flash, but I work with what I got. So I took a few self portraits with some natural lighting and some fill lighting. I posted a few of my favorites below.

Edit: Ok, so I can't figure out how to put the pictures below the post. Lil help??

My 1st blog!

Well here's my first entry into my blog. The new camera (Canon EOS 50D) just arrived yesterday! It's amazing! I know it's not a "full framer." But it's plenty of camera for me and I'm glad I opted to go with it instead of the 40. It's a fantastic piece of equipment that I can only hope I use to it's full potential. "If you have the means. I highly recommend you pick one up." The weather here has been pretty cold, with the exception of the other day (it reached 50!!), so getting out and shooting has been a little tough on the fingers and toes. So instead I'm using all this indoor time to work on my lighting skills. I guess I should say "Discover" my lighting skills. Or lack there of. I've got ol Mom's birthday party this weekend, so maybe I'll get some good shots from there. Until next time.....
